Resin floor in the garage of a private house, how to keep the floor in good condition for many years?

Resin floors are becoming more and more popular in both private homes and commercial facilities. One of the most common uses of this elegant, durable and easy-to-maintain surface is a private garage.

Due to their resistance to abrasion, chemicals and ease of cleaning, resin floors are an excellent choice for a garage floor. But how can you keep your garage floor in good condition for many years? Here are some tips.

The basis for keeping the resin floor in the garage in good condition is regular cleaning. After completing the work, be sure to remove any dirt that may cause long-term effects of an improperly maintained floor. Try to vacuum the floor thoroughly and wipe its surface with a damp cloth at least once a week.

Resin floors are resistant to many chemicals, but some, especially acidic ones, may cause discoloration. Protect the floor against contact with such substances, for example by placing a special underlay under the car. In the event of an accidental spill, clean the floor immediately to minimize the risk of permanent stains.

Resin floors: epoxy, polyurethane

Although resin floors are extremely durable, they are not resistant to heavy equipment or sharpened edges. Therefore, pay special attention when carrying heavy objects or tool blades. Avoid putting too much pressure on one spot on the floor, which could damage the surface.

Resin floors may deform under the influence of extreme temperatures. So try to keep the temperature in the garage not higher than 30 degrees Celsius and not lower than 10 degrees Celsius.

Despite its high degree of resistance, over the years the resin floor may show traces of use. In such a case, it is recommended to perform renovation and repair of the floor. This process involves mechanical cleaning of the floor and then applying a new layer of resin. Such surface refreshment guarantees a long-lasting, aesthetic appearance and full protection of the floor for many years to come.

To sum up, proper maintenance of a resin floor can ensure its very long life. Regular and systematic cleaning, protection against stains, avoiding mechanical damage and maintaining the appropriate temperature, and if necessary, renovation, will allow you to enjoy a modern and aesthetic garage floor for many years.

How to level an old concrete floor in the garage and then lay a resin floor?

The garage floor is exposed to intense loads, which is why many people decide to replace the old concrete floor with a modern resin covering.

Leveling an old concrete floor to apply resin may seem like a complicated task at first glance, but in reality the process is not as difficult as it seems spends. Here are some tips to help you with this task.

The first step is to thoroughly assess the condition of the floor. Look for cracks, defects or irregularities. If the surface is severely damaged, you may decide to remove the old flooring and install a new one. However, if a significant part of the floor is in good condition, it can be leveled and prepared for the application of a resin floor.

Before you start leveling the floor, it is necessary to remove all old coatings, such as paint, epoxy layer or mortar. This can be done using an industrial floor sander with an appropriate disc. Then the surface must be thoroughly cleaned of dust and dirt.

To level the floor, you can use a special mortar to fill cracks and holes. Such mortar should be applied to the damaged areas and, after drying, sanded to finally bring the entire surface to one level.

After filling all the cracks, use a specialized floor filling mortar that can be easily spread over a larger area. After applying the first layer, let it dry and sand the entire surface to obtain a uniform, smooth and clean floor like polished concrete.

After leveling the floor, it is worth applying a primer before applying a layer of resin. It is necessary if you want your new resin floor to stick firmly to the surface and not chip.

These are just a few steps, but they are extremely important for the longevity of your new resin floor. Remember that good preparation of the surface is an investment for years, and professional installation of a resin floor will certainly translate into its aesthetics and durability. Above all, thorough preparation and leveling of the floor will allow you to enjoy trouble-free use of your garage.
